Hailing from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, now based in Minneapolis, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pat Keen has played in various bands (including Guerilla Toss, Wei Zhongle, and Ian Sweet) and recorded two solo albums since 2015. With roots in experimental jazz and folk, he approaches his craft with an openness to impulse, what he calls "subconscious sound-poetry turned into meaning later." His third record, Cells Remain, finds Keen weaving subtle contributions from friends (Adelyn Strei, Brian Joseph, John McCowen, and Shane Leonard) into arrangements reflecting on the relationships that shape him. "Soft, sweet, and often rather minimalist, Keen's work stands out as holding true unto itself," says Atwood Magazine. The LP sees release on Birdwatcher Records.
