Zoya: Andorra was my introduction to Caribou, who has since become basically everyone's favorite. (Our last site release was codenamed Caribou.) "Melody Day" also has one of my favorite features in music: the pause.
Dave: Instant nostalgia for me; distant vocals, warm tones, that one-man bedroom beat... "Artichoke" is 2010 blog era in a capsule (shoutout No Modest Bear, Head Underwater, Dead as Digital, etc), and still great.
Dev: You can discover great, random stuff via music blogs. I remember being turned on to this by Colin from Austin blog CubikMusik. Colin has since moved (back) to Ireland and Cubik is dormant—such is the pace of life and blogging—but we still share music finds.
Josh: White Denim has always had that perfect mix of the classics I grew up on and the current sounds that pull me now. It's not suprising that this was the first track that did so on Hype Machine.
Anthony: I think I've listened to Metronomy
throughout the entire time I've worked on Hype Machine, and this remix is a great reminder; it brings out the darkest bits of an already amazing Charlotte Gainsbourg track.
This week's album premiere is Send Two Sunsets, the debut LP from Berlin-based ambient producer Gacha.
As for interesting reads, try this throwback on The Joy of Hype Machine (<3).
Thanks for listening!
