The best place to find new music on the web. Every day, thousands of people around the world write about music they love — and it all ends up here.
Stack №206 was hand-picked by Oakland-based artist Madeline Kenney, who has a "talent for writing distorted, blissful pop with urgent undercurrents," says The Fader. Her Perfect Shapes LP, produced by Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner, is out today on Carpark Records.

Harriet Brown - Bag Away

Kenney says of the LA-based, self-proclaimed pioneer of romantic funk, "Don’t know many people as effortlessly cool as Aaron Valenzuela. An incredible new track from my buddy HB! The beat is insane, I have had this on repeat."
On this single released last year, Oakland band Bells Atlas blend soulful R&B with psychedelic jazz and pop. Kenney adds, "Probably my favorite bass line they've ever made. What a banger!! That key change?? Get outta town. Nice one, my dudes."

Flying Circles - Green Ennui

"Incredible, underrated Oakland band, stellar songwriters with infectious guitar lines that make me squirm in the best way. Colleen Johnson (also part of the beloved Silver Shadows) and I used to work at a bakery in SF together!"

Dead Recipe - Framey

Posted by 1 site • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Kenney also runs her own label, Copper Mouth Records, home to Dead Recipe. "Pure unfettered free-flying genius. My backing band are 2 parts of this pure-groove Austin trio. This song makes me re-think what is possible and what is allowed."

Naytronix - Back In Time Money Mark Remix

Posted by 4 sites • On Bandcamp • Also on: SpotifyApple Music
"Nate Brenner is not only in Oakland’s weirdo-groove hero band, Tune-Yards, but also has the of most creative approach to music-making I’ve been around. Mister Divine is one of my favorite records to come out of Oakland."

Empty Me, the new LP from NY-based avant-pop composer GABI.

For The Baffler, Liz Pelly continues to question Spotify's model:

"Here is a glimpse of the future: Spotify dictates the creative process to an artist, and the line between 'independent' or platform-employed grows ever murkier."

Thanks for listening!
