New York-via-Vermont avant-pop producer Ryan Power is known for crossing a generous sense of melody with inventive, unpredictable, and sometimes bizarre creative impulses. His seventh full-length, They Sell Doomsday, finds Power returning to his foundations in jazz guitar and utilizing a more stream-of-consciousness style of songwriting. The result is his most ambitious, self-aware, and colorful collection to date, "an album that delights in dragging pop about as far 'out-there' as it can get away with," says Tiny Mix Tapes. "It’s truly a trick that only an artist this far into his career—and as assured in his talents to craft compelling music as Power is—could pull off." The double-LP is out on NNA Tapes.
