With her project YlangYlang, Montreal-based artist Catherine Debard has defined a mesmeric style of spoken word music across a variety of albums, collaborations, and performance experiments. Her latest collection is inspired in part by the writing of Danish poet Inger Christensen, exploring, Debard says, "how we are shaped and shaping our experience at the same time" and "how free we can be within our own limitations." Using synths, field recordings, and contributions from guests on saxophone, cello, santur, and more, she takes a "serene look into the self," says Post-Trash, "...something that feels beamed down from another plain on existence while being firmly rooted in our cosmos." It's out on Crash Symbols.
