Félicia Atkinson is a visual artist, experimental composer, poet and co-publisher of Shelter Press based in Rennes, France. Across dozens of records and books, she's explored topics such as improvisation, language, deep listening, musique concrète, silence and noise, abstraction and configuration. Her latest, The Flower and The Vessel, was crafted while pregnant on tour. She calls it “a record not about being pregnant but a record made with pregnancy,” also citing three French classical compositions as reference points: Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, Debussy’s La Mer and Erik Satie’s Gymnopédies. Sparse, evocative, eerie and serene, the work features "a heady blend of cut-up poetry, field recording, ASMR and dreamy ambient textures," says FACT. SUNN O))) guitarist Stephen O’Malley contributes to the closer.
