Fantastic Purple Spots - Flowerland

Here's another find from janglepophub: Connecticut/Texas band The Purple Spots make psych-pop music "characterized by its eclecticism," says the site, likening their new EP to "the San Francisco jangle of acts like The Reds, Pinks, and Purples, Flowertown, and Cindy." Out today, it's their second release on Austin Town Hall Records.

GOOD MIX
Let's hand it back to Steven Julien for an hour-long NTS Radio dispatch he shared this week to celebrate the new DJ-Kicks release.
GOOD READ

For Hearing Things, Larry Fitzmaurice details how the indie rock boom went bust:

"There’s never been a precise formula for breaking out of the pack and attaining buzz, but for many in the indie sphere, achieving widespread visibility has increasingly resembled winning a lottery that you can’t remember buying a ticket for."

Thanks for listening!
