Released this week on Winspear (Stack №166), the debut single from Brooklyn 5-piece Barrie is a "wistful, swaying dream-pop gem that twinkles like hazy city lights on a late-night cruise down Mulholland Drive," says Gorilla vs. Bear.

Drelli - Down Day

Ghana-via-Minneapolis rapper Drelli playfully mixes hip-hop and dance music into what he calls “swagbop.” The 19-year-old tells FACT he aspires to be the rap game Eddie Murphy, though Pitchfork likens his boyish charm to Ferris Bueller.

Bad Gyal - Blink (prod. Dj Florentino)

The rise of Barcelona-based singer and rapper Alba Farelo Bad Gyal began last spring with a breakout adaptation of Rihanna’s “Work.” Her wild, autotuned take on dancehall and reggaeton, sung in Spanish and Catalan, continues to intrigue.

Haley Heynderickx - Worth It

The most-discussed song this week belongs to Portland's Haley Heynderickx. Stereogum points to her upcoming album as "one of the most intriguing and immersive debuts of this young year," recalling the work of Angel Olsen.

Braxton Cook - Pariah Kiefer Remix

One year ago today, Leaving Records-signed pianist and beatmaker Kiefer Shackelford landed on Stack №127 with an ode to J Dilla. Here he flips a highlight from saxophonist Braxton Cook's 2017 LP with trademark groove.

Hovvdy - Petal

Posted by 1 site • On Bandcamp • Also on: SpotifyApple Music
Cranberry, the new LP from Austin-based rock duo Hovvdy.
Jamie Tiller takes Resident Advisor through the obscure catalog of his label Music From Memory (and its sublabel Second Circle), along with some music he's been DJing as of late.

Vulture talks with music legend Quincy Jones.

"He name-drops, he scolds, he praises, and he tells (and retells) stories about his very famous friends. Even when his words are harsh, he says them with an enveloping charm, frequently leaning over for fist bumps and to tap me on the knee. 'The experiences I’ve had!' he says, shaking his head in wonder. 'You almost can’t believe it.'"

Thanks for listening!
