Sneaks - With a Cherry on Top

Posted by 5 sites • On Bandcamp • Also on: SpotifyApple Music
Sneaking its way onto a few year-end lists is an album from D.C.-based minimal post-punk experimentalist Eva Moolchan. Her music balances tension with deadpan quirkiness, on display here "With A Cherry On Top." Out on Merge Records.

Chris Dave And The Drumhedz - Destiny N Stereo (feat. Elzhi, Phonte Coleman & Eric Roberson)

Esteemed drummer Chris Dave & friends will release their first LP next year. Expect elements of "underground hip-hop, astral R&B, groove-forward jazz, spirit-minded soul," says NPR, and guest vocals from the likes of Anderson .Paak and Goapele.

The second album from Stockholm's Hannes Ferm, aka Holy, is due in early 2018. If the title track's nine minutes of theatrical psych-pop are any indication, it's sure to cover some ground both conceptually and sonically.

Haulm - Settle

The first two singles from Brooklyn's Haulm have been moving about our charts in recent weeks. Signed to Grand Jury Music (Twin Peaks), the duo deploy "warm, analogue textures and synths" and "somber, ethereal vocals," says The 405.
Here's a sprawling new mix from Haulm, featuring portions of two unreleased songs and more than a few Stack favorites like Daphni, Kiasmos, Bicep, and Four Tet.

The Awl navigates the little-known folklore of sea chanties.

"Sailors were self-mythologizing even in their own time, their songs casting a life of unremitting toil as one of dashing adventure."

Thanks for listening!
