Jonathan Something
Cannibal House Rules
Out August 7th, 2020 Buy

Connecticut-based artist Jonathan Something explores absurdist, Andy Kaufmann-like conceits with pop music: getting beat up by NBA legend Larry Bird, drumming in a Steely Dan cover band, and cataloging God's HBO viewing habits, for example. With his third album, Cannibal House Rules, he dives into the genre of early '80s horror, scoring an imagined movie with synth-driven songs inspired by new wave and Italo disco. "Forlorn melody and plucky Yamaha synths bring a vintage aesthetic to the forefront," says The Deli Magazine, "but Something really sells it in his panache; his pop vocal delivery occupies the liminal space between camp and classic, equally evocative of both James Murphy and George Michael." It sees release on Solitaire Recordings.
