Los Angeles DJ, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Nicky Benedek grew up on '90s new jack swing, West Coast G-funk, and his dad's Herbie Hancock records. Since debuting in 2011—his first ever track featured Stones Throw legend Dâm-Funk—Benedek has cruised through the intersection of house, jazz, disco, and funk, creating hypnotic groove music that's inseparable from LA. Likening the album to a late night drive along the Pacific Coast Highway, Passion of the Weiss finds Bene's World to be "his most cohesive work to date." It's out on Leaving Records, the genre-blurring label run by musician Matthewdavid and visual artist Jesselisa Moretti.
