A1) Squelch (00.00)
A2) Onslaught (1.52)
B2) Murdah (4.02)
B3) Submerged (6.17)

Moving away from the mellower, Far East-influenced ‘Taiko’ EP from 2017 on the label, the Manchester producer exemplifies his range of sound with four weighty and moody tracks heavily focused on the dancefloor.

Elements of dubstep run through the EP, especially on the title track with its floor-shaking bass rumbles, accompanied by skitterings of percussion and warped cries of ‘murder’. In line with KAIZEN’s ethos, the rest of EP fuses elements of techno and grime to devastating effect, layered with spacey atmospherics and off-kilter rhythms.

With love shown from Ben UFO, Four Tet, Pinch, Loefah, and others, there’s no doubt Walton’s destructive club cuts will be getting plenty of minutes in the dance.

The ‘Murdah’ EP follows Walton’s ferocious ‘Inside’ EP on Pinch’s Tectonic Recordings and his debut album ‘Black Lotus’ on the same label in 2018.
