Mos Def is one of the most underrated artists in Hip Hop. Actually, one of the most underrated artists, period. From music to acting and style- Mos has managed to stay sort of 'underground', but still manages to make statements and progress in his art-forms.
I played some acoustic guitar over the song's original sample (Aretha Franklin- One Step Ahead) . Then, I gave Mr. Def a new, sort of euphoric backdrop to tell his story over.
