This is another one of those all time classics, another one of the first records that really got me into digging for jazz and soul. I like many people I know, first heard this break used in the Pharcyde's Passin' Me By and I fell instantly in love. At that time I knew the name Quincy Jones, but i truly had no idea of just how prolific a man he actually was, responsible for an enormous amount of high quality soul and jazz and probably most prolifically soundtrack releases (not to mention the man behind Michael Jackson's Off the Wall and Thriller albums!). This song really does sound exactly like a summer night in the city, and you can probably tell how much play I have given it due to the sound, which I was going to re record, but I think it adds to the vibe :)
