Inspirada particularmente por el relato corto La llamada de Cthulhu de H. P. Lovecraft. Esta canción apareció en el segundo álbum de la banda, Ride the Lightning, en 1984. Fue escrita por Cliff Burton, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich y Dave Mustaine. La canción se refiere a un cuento de terror cósmico en el que un ser llamado Cthulhu yace desde hace milenios bajo el mar; este ser es un cazador de sombras malignas de las cuales los humanos somos presas.

Particularly inspired by the short story called The Call of Cthulhu by H. P. Lovecraft. This song appeared on the band's second album, Ride the Lightning, in 1984. It was written by Cliff Burton, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and Dave Mustaine. The song refers to a cosmic horror story in which a being called Cthulhu lies for millennia under the sea, this being is a Shadowhunter evil of which humans are prey.
