Dutch singer and producer Lilian Hak started out as a solo electronica artist but it was with her 2010 album, Old Powder New Guns, that she reached a wider audience.
The whole album was a bold, exhilarating record, with fizzing Bond-theme brass giving way to sultry 50s-style torch songs, crackling electronics and cracking songwriting, all underpinned by an ambitious sonic sensibility and a voice that would make stone melt. Its success led to acclaimed shows in her native Holland and in the US, where she recorded a session for WFMU.
