  MCSR is Matthew Dunehoo. It is an act, but true! Mary itself is a trickster spirit, channeled through the application of a little toxic face paint, the donning of dirty suits, and the practice of purgatorial theatrics: part psychedelic seance, part manic episode, and all unnervingly sincere. Live electrical guitar and squawking against backing drum, bass and alien choir tracks. Ethereal shimmering highs over zombie gutter beats. It’s sheer melodrama as the set swings manically between metallic exuberance and brittle melancholy.
  
  Musical analogs include: Eno, Siouxsie, Bowie, Love and Rockets, Oscar The Grouch, Def Leppard, Cocteau Twins, Carole King. The MCSR moniker was inspired by the animated special “Really Rosie,” a collaboration between King and author Marice Sendak, and honors play, and irreverence as integral to survival in the throes of a tirelessly antagonist and beautiful world. The performance itself is intended as a transcendent container, with certain knowledge that gathering in community for music worship remains an essential and revolutionarily mystical act.
  
  After working in independent theater companies in NYC, Dunehoo began writing and producing short films. His first feature WRETCH, an indie horror film imagining cancer as a demonic entity, premiered in Helsinki, Finland at Night Visions in April 2019. Dunehoo is an advocate for... destigmatizing mental health awareness. His podcast MINDBEND features interviews with guests sharing about their experiences exploring non-ordinary and extraordinary states of consciousness, often with an emphasis on psychedelic modalities.
  
  During the pandemic, Dunehoo pulverized his right wrist in a bicycle accident and shortly thereafter cut off the tip of his left ring finger in a separate accident. Originally envisioned as a project wherein he could focus on singing, hands free, for now MCSR live is a one man band featuring painful guitar work, lots of fake candles and flowers, but real portals and spells.
  
  MCSR’s debut album is entitled “Que Linda,” and releases on CLEARLY Records, 3.14.25. The album is in memory of his mother Linda, an English teacher and watercolorist, who painted its cover as her last commission before succumbing to ovarian cancer in August, 2024.
