about

The third single and title track from new album Fort Sensible encapsulates Tape/Off’s aesthetic, their inherent melodicism shining through amidst ferocious guitar squalls, tribal beats and shouted socially-conscious polemic. Culminating in frontman Nathan Pickels’ anguished refrain of “It gets me down!”, the lyrics feature scathing social commentary and snarled discontent with skewed governmental priorities, it all dwindling into nothingness to ram home the frustrated resignation.

Their world is mundane, agitated and in a perpetual struggle for meaning and purpose, which is to say it’s pretty fucking realistic." Christopher Lewis - Mess and Noise ... more
