about
We all do it—point fingers at fate, bad luck, or outside forces when things don’t go our way. "Blaming It On You" is about that very instinct—the tendency to misdirect failure, to find an external reason for why things aren’t working out instead of looking inward. But beneath the surface, the song also explores the paralysis of self-doubt, the weight of indecision, and the fear that maybe, just maybe, the real obstacle has been ourselves all along.
The lyrics move in a cycle of reflection and avoidance—flashes of realization are quickly drowned out by doubt, while the chorus drives home the irony: we make our own excuses, yet we blame something—or someone—else for keeping us down. With each repeated refrain of “I’m blaming it on you,” the song captures the frustration, the self-awareness, and the contradiction of being stuck in that endless loop.
Set against Fuzzysurf’s signature melodic hooks and energetic instrumentation, "Blaming It On You" transforms a deeply personal struggle into an infectious, sing-along song for anyone who’s ever felt stuck in their own head. Do we keep moving forward, ignore the doubt, and continue on? Or, like the song itself suggests, do we turn it into music and let it all out?
Either way, it's a feeling we all know too well.
lyrics
How will I know where this will lead me if I can’t even believe in myself?
Morsels of clout that keep me on dreaming paired with thoughts that won’t stop putting me down
Do I assume it was nothing, continue on
Or write about it in a song?
Get off the floor, excuses keep calling
I am the one that makes me keep falling due to blaming it on you
How will I know if I’m going through motions that I’ve built through time, I’m stuck to define?
Morsels of doubt that keep me on reeling and these thoughts that won’t stop putting me down
Do I assume it was nothing, continue on
Or write about it in a song?
Get off the floor, excuses keep calling
I am the one that makes me keep falling due to blaming it on you
I’m blaming it on you, I’m blaming it on you
I’m blaming it on you, I’m blaming it on you
Do I assume it was nothing, continue on
Or write about it in a song?
Because this song’s about you, you know it’s about you
Yeah this song’s been about you all along
Get off the floor, excuses keep calling
I am the one that makes me keep falling due to blaming it on you
I’m blaming it on you, I’m blaming it one you
