London-based producer Tom b is set to release a remix of his track “Lavender Water,” brought to life by fellow artist and collaborator Philipp Koerver (Flipso). This fresh and dynamic reinterpretation channels UK garage and drum & bass influences, marking an exciting evolution in Tom b’s experimental soundscape.
The remix is rooted in the close creative synergy between Tom b and Flipso, both of whom share a deep appreciation for music which steps beyond conventions, allowing themselves as producers to enter new spaces of musical innovation.
“Philipp was always a fan of the original,” Tom b explains. “We’d talked a lot about UK garage and drum & bass during gigs in Germany, and when he sent me an early draft, I knew it deserved a full release.”
The original “Lavender Water” was built around an improvised guitar progression, with Lucy Wroe’s (Heartbeat Wipers, Better) unique vocals and lyricism guiding the track into an entirely new direction.
For the remix, Tom b took a step back, allowing Philipp to experiment freely. “This is the first time I’ve had one of my tracks remixed,” Tom b shares. “I trusted Philipp’s instincts to create something that reflected his perspective while retaining the essence of the original.”
Tom b goes on further to say “when I started producing and releasing my own music it was very insular and single minded. I played everything, produced, mixed, and mastered it all. But over time I’ve made a conscious effort to involve more and more people in the process.”
Tom b continues to build on his reputation as a producer who seeks to evolve and enter new spheres of musical development.
