about

Directed by day, “no good” begins with the image of OHYUNG as a runaway rave bride biking through the streets of Brooklyn. The hazy pop song is an anthem to the contradictory fear of becoming the person you’ve always wanted to be, and an ode to the transformative possibilities of raving. “Anyone can see / I’m no good for you,” is repeated through the song, creating a pessimistic lyrical loop. The video features OHYUNG in varying forms—the bride, a statuesque scarlet diva, and a rave girl in biker boots performing in an empty warehouse—each one echoing the other through choreographed movements. The use of pulsing red light and poetry in the video are references to OHYUNG’s dynamic live performances. Images of liquid, morphing metal evoke the metamorphosis at the heart of the album, and the video closes with the poem “Do You Think I’m Disco” by Olivia Sio Tse, which takes the viewer into the interstitial and wordless space that the club offers us all: “There before I was there / I wanted you to imagine.”

lyrics

anyone can see
anyone can see
anyone can see
anyone can see
i’m no good for you
i’m no good for you
i’m no good for you
i’m no good for you
for you
