It was late summer of 2013 when Otu and RiQ met on the web and noticed that their music interest was the same. They formed a band, this machine called Kaiser. The first sessions showed that the chemistry was more than right. It was outstanding and supreme. Later they found Pex, who had played bass in the same band as RiQ in the past. I’m a huge nerd and knew I would love this album simply from the name of the band. Shai-Hulud was the first track I heard and it remains my favorite, its deep and droning sound is just fucken awesome. Complete Obliteration comes in at a close second for the favorites. God I could kiss that guitar tone on its personified mouth!

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+...
