about
Post-decriminalisation of abortion in the north of Ireland, this is a protest song about the fight for safe healthcare access and education in recent years. The dark tone & rising energy of the disco-drum beat is purposefully written to ignite the fire in your belly. This track is made complete with some sinister guitar sounds. Reflecting our real experience of these subjects in this part of the world is somehow deemed too’ controversial’ for broadcasting and was not allowed on a major British broadcasting platform. This is TRAMP. Enjoy.
lyrics
How long my school skirt should be
How to respond like a lady
How to not hurt his manhood,
Offer up my body - I’ve been taught
How to please a man who doesn’t care if he hurts me
How to beg for forgiveness, make him want me
A pained actress
How to only say ‘no’ to my own boundaries
Your hands are always where they ought not to be
All we ask is for…
Some fucking autonomy.
There’s nothing pro-life about a life sentence
God gave me this uterus, it’s my body, it’s my future,
It’s my right to choose what to do with it
Hands off
How to not trust a woman
How to not trust anyone with a womb
How to feel undeserving of space in this room
How to always second-guess your best interests
With your doctor…
No more
Trips to England with baggage of shame
No more
Suffering in silence in Jesus’ name
No more
Church and state colluding, deciding my fate
Free, safe, legal, local now
Robin Swann
Be a good boy and do
Your fucking job
There’s nothing pro-life about a life sentence
God gave me this uterus, it’s my body, it’s my future,
It’s my right to choose what to do with it
Hands off
There’s nothing pro-life about a life sentence
God gave me this uterus, it’s my body, it’s my future,
It’s my right to choose what to do with it
Hands off
Teach a woman she’s a disgrace, that’ll keep her in her place
Teach a woman she’s a disgrace, that’ll keep her, that’ll keep her
Teach a woman she’s a disgrace, that’ll keep her in her place
You can only try to keep her…
One, two, three, four
Na na na na
Na na na na
Na na na na
