"A song about our hometown going through its confusing adolescent phase as it tries to reinvent itself from a bohemian Mecca into a confused technological wasteland. I don’t think Austin itself is changing, but there’s a new crop of transplants that are challenging the foundations of what this town once stood for. At a certain point, there comes a time to address the mediocrity and banality of these people who decided it was their turn to take over our great city. If no one tells them, how will they know? If we keep sitting on the sidelines and muttering under our breath, before long we’ll just turn into another city no different from the next one. For the younger generation of artists here, I think we’re scared of losing something we never got the chance to earn. So we’re starting over, and turning a fresh page."
lyrics
Well, tell me what you don’t know
She’s gone arigato
You’ve been down at Coco
Looking for some blow
Did ya get it?
Was it worth it?
How could you not, though?
Everyone’s a rascal
They all think you’re so cool
Talking bout the past
Like you made it
When you faked it
Quit acting local
Go on down to Soco
I don’t wanna know you
Burn your Palo Santo baby
And she’s always on time
But I’m never gonna say it
Say I want her to be mine
Now watch them Go Go
Hanging at the Grotto
Underneath the lights
With their funny foreign tattoos
Maybe, you could save me?
Well, what you got-so?
Drinking from the bottle
Scratching at your lotto
Everyone’s a model lately
And they hate me
Come back tomorrow
Acting like an asshole
Why you think you got to?
You ain’t in Chicago, baby
And she’s always on my mind
But I’m never gonna say it
Say I want her to be mine
Well, tell me what you don’t know
She’s gone arigato
You’ve been down at Coco
Looking for some blow
Did ya get it?
Was it worth it?
Come back tomorrow
Acting like an asshole
Why you think you got to?
You ain’t in Chicago, baby

Literally just heard 'Back of my Mind's and was sold! Excellent! Love that 60s sound with the tremelo and jazz master. Fits the vocals perfectly. Thank you for the Rock n' Roll!! ohthereverb66

A tight collection of songs. As I delve deeper into the Sex Mex canon, there seems to be an endless bounty of killer tracks to discover. Catchy tunes, funny lyrics and that swirling synth… oh yeah… but with something deeper, too… Nihilistic synth punk with a touch of sugary pop. kel kontraire
