nipaluna/Hobart-based band A. Swayze & The Ghosts are back with their sophomore album ‘Let's Live a Life Better Than This’.
Arriving on October 25, the album brings a hypnotic ferocity, marking a period of reflection and rejuvenation for the band.
Emerging from a touring hiatus, the band turned inwards to fight the claustrophobic constraints of genre they found themselves in. ‘Let's Live a Life Better Than This’ - self-produced in a first for the band and mixed by Andy Savours (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Rina Sawayama, Arctic Monkeys) - is the dawning of a new era for A. Swayze & the Ghosts. Densely packed with tight, punchy drums and percussion, Roland and Korg synths and a touch of saxophone, the guitar-led, dance-forward record signifies a zealous transformation, brimming with a renewed energy and intensity, non-traditional rock elements and an unwavering sense of passion and commitment.

This album is so wonderful, its full of so much joy and a love of home. I had difficulty picking a favourite song but Camp Dog reflected this part of childhood I dont think has been talked about a lot that exists between children and animals when the grown ups arent around. It brings back such specific memories and feelings for me, and ones I think are paired perfectly with the vocals and instrumentals.

The great underlying instrumentation paired with Florence's droll stream of consciousness lyrics make this album stand out. It feels so personal and confessional. Favorite tracks are Strong Feelings and Leafy. I've heard Scratchard Lanyard on alt radio and love that one as well.

This album brings together rage, joy, and love and the connection between personal problems and social policy. My favorite tracks are the burning raging rockers. I would love it if the end of “Change” would go on for five more minutes!
