There's not a good reason anymore why a self-produced musician can't learn how to produce a cleaner recording--the overcompressed / heavily distorted drums are baked in on purpose for the lo-fi aesthetic. It bugs me quite a bit, honestly, but only because the melodies lurking underneath all that harsh noise are so good. Nicholas Greenwood
