Now that it's that spooky time of the year again, I'm finding myself coming back to this album again and again. Most black metal albums are evil and fantastical, but this album feels real. It perfectly captures the feeling of hearing a folk horror story as a kid and becoming terrified, hearing an unknown visitor in every creak of a floorboard or sway of a tree. Now that the day is becoming shorter and the shadows longer, The Knocking is the perfect album to revisit. the_river_flows_eternally
