There’s no chain on the apex
It’s science fiction
Pass the hours on ascending wire
If it clings to you it’s a parasite
Feeding at the empire
Is it at war with us, so we war with it?
Is it really war if it wars with us?
Operate or stand back
It won’t go away
What stares back dreaming
You won’t ever say
In the mirror
Staking down a creature with a third eye
Is it truth if you’re satisfied just to whisper something wrong?
“I wanted pleasure
I wanted joy
I wanted you to love me like you lean into the void”
Swallow the old growth
It won’t go away
It’s in the clearing
It’s a stowaway
In the mirror
Breathe into the draft like a signal flare
The perimeter’s black, it was extinguished there
But everyone says that I’m fire and air
Everyone says that I’m fire and air
Gritty and poignant. I love the imagery and attention to detail in the lyrics that captures that singular experience of growing up in the 'burbs. Quite excellent for screaming along to in the car tabitha_yay_
They took everything from God's Country and refined it even further. I'm so excited to see what they continue to come up with, talented bunch of people. Cover also looks like a cross I've seen in Indiana about one hundred times so that's really cool soulof-fright

Dirtbag Transformation: "What is this?" was my first reaction. But what an amazing song. It reminds me a bit of the Pixies in how it pulls together dissonance and then resolves. malfunction54
