I’ll Never Forgive You looks at a relationship that holds two flawed people trying their best, now standing hand-in-hand staring at wreckage of what they once were without prejudice towards one another, just wondering how it went so wrong. As we all do at the end of a friendship or a love interest we can catch ourselves saying to that person in our minds ‘how could you’ or ‘what was I thinking’, that’s what this song hits. You could listen to this song from either perspective.
What I’m most proud of about this song is it’s not just pointed outward at the other person and inward at yourself but it also provides no answers. We make mistakes, things don’t work and things explode. We read entire novels, great stories hoping that at the end we get answers and guidance, but often they just end at the beginning of another day. I think this song taps into that, and I believe people hear that and it resonates deeply inside them. It’s just one chapter of the evolution of these people.
