Ulcerate has got to be one of the most consistent death metal bands out there. ‘Cutting the Throat of God’ is an excellent addition to an already stellar catalog. It undulates with densely atmospheric, dissonant, progressive, pummeling death metal and the occasional lighter passage to give some breathing room. As always with Ulcerate the drumming is what stands out the most to me, especially the use of cymbals. 8/10

An album of immense power, creativity, and replay value wherein each listen reveals a little more, Etemen Ænka is where DVNE shed the obvious influences behind their sound and solidified their own take on progressive post-metal. When you hear it said that a band is “tight”, this is a great example: a group of musicians so totally in sync and playing as one, instead of merely several talented individuals performing together. I am aboard the Wayfarer train and happy to be here!!! A fierce and smoldering record. Smoky, soot-stained, and violent, as many others have observed. I grew a Van Dyke, a full-body black denim suit with blood-red garnet buttons, and a brand new Stetson right out of my head just listening to the opening songs. It really feels like Wayfarer have hit a stride, one which follows its nose for good blends of music. Happy to have seen ya at FITM, in DC w/ Sonja, and now very excited to see you again!
