Sarah found out the hard way with the first two
When the third died she used painting to get through
No peace and quiet in a house full of boys
don't spare the rod when you want them to be
the best you knew how a broom for crutches
there's something guiding but life has other plans
Sarah sang for twenty years at least
Like air to breathe it was a necessity
A spleen full of cancer young hands so needy
and constant calling leaves no time to be healed
when the brakes went out the truck flipped over
there in Wyoming life had other plans
And so one day when you sat next to his bed
he said I'm going home today and then your son was dead
when you tell your children that their brother's passed on
and then you get dressed and off to church you go
you came from tea leaves and found religion
you left that chaos cause life had other plans
when I was just a boy I would stare at those paintings
never knowing my Mom made them while her son died of cancer
