“Phoenix Rising” Featuring Claudio Delgift (Produced by Tony Tone, Simon Collins, and Bad Habbits)
Cleveland, OH native Bad Habbits is back with a fresh new summer anthem about perseverance and determination with the brand new banger, “Phoenix Rising”, which will be featured on Habbits’ upcoming release, “Sunfire”, due for later this year.
Born out of the ashes of personal health struggles and drug addiction, “Phoenix” was inspired by the fragility of the body, the mind, and the soul. Through the tribulations of what life happens to have in store for you at the moment, we have the power to reverse course and make modifications to get back on track to healthy and positive living. “Phoenix” is a testament to this mentality.
“Phoenix Rising” is a special collaboration between Bad Habbits and Claudio Delgift, lead singer and guitarist of the Argentinian Progressive Rock Band, Light. Delgift's stellar guitar playing on “Phoenix” can be heard and appreciated on Light's brand new release, “The Engine Of the World”, as well as their previous two albums, Self Titled, and The Miracle of Life.
“Phoenix Rising” is dedicated to the memory of Arien Lune, a special person in Claudio's life who has impacted many and left this world far too soon.
lyrics
Life's a dog,
Barkin at you in bed at 4 in the morning
I'm about to go off
Without warning, my brain's rainstorming
Shit ain't a cake walk,
I couldn't sustain, now my mind's transforming
Paralyzed spines restoring
Parallel Lines are worth exploring
Stressin in a hospital bed
Tellin, confessin, my health in the red
Chasing heaven I got hell instead
Sometimes we take the L so we can excel ahead
Blinded with rage, playing mind games
The stress of the day portrayed in crime waves
I conquered and came, I'm done shifting blame
From this point on we ain't got shit to explain!
I'm wreckin mics stretching to new heights
No stressin, detesting another man's plight
Focus on protecting your brethren right
Redirecting the light on irrelevant fright
Panic and the pain are hard to explain
I try to discard the garbage in my brain
Every day is a battle but we must maintain
I'm back in the saddle and I got no shame
Phoenix Rising
Cease your crying
Peace is shining
Pieces will be picked up
Beaten but we won't give up
Life's a drag
Be lucky your body doesn't end up in a bag
I've been backstabbed
Been the butt of the joke I forgot to laugh
I'm half the man I was in the past
At least that's how I feel when I'm gettin so gassed
And I ain't putting out no goddamn trash
I'd be lying if i'm whining that my rapping is ass
I stay live and direct, fuck the passive aggress
The test is how you act under active duress
Do you self medicate so you can deal with the stress?
Or do you activate change and seek to progress
There's no time to wait gotta create the moment
I made mistakes and god dammit I own it
Organically evolved as a mammoth I show it
If it doesnt go as planned you gotta regrow it
Back, better than ever, new and improved
Life is a gift when you shift attitudes
Get rid of the rage and the hate it consumes
Learn to elevate and uplift confused moods
You’'ll get plenty of shit gotta be a little shrewd
Cuz life is a gift when you live for the truth
Don't give up when you feel like you're screwed
I'll lift you up and you'll deal and get through.
All my people, all the masses
Geographic, clear the static
We were feeble, it was tragic
We ain't defined by past reactions
Spin the needle, make the magic
It's automatic the shift from the panic
We are equal, we’ll establish
No demise we will rise from the ashes
Phoenix Rising
Cease your crying
Peace is shining
Pieces will be picked up
Beaten but we won't give up
