"Second Freedom" is the most recent in Barocas's open-ended series of compositons. Freedoms are numbered according to the order of their conception not completion, so this piece, though numbered second, is the ninth such work to be completed.
Its subtitle, 'Every God Needs a Witness" is a line by the poet Edmund Jabès (1912-1991), whose work has provided a theater of inquiry for the spiritual development of these pieces.

Honestly, i typically recoil at electronic beats, but good lord is "Dead-Eyed God" a haunting, beautiful track! It's just delightful to see one of your favorite musicians expanding their palette with such confidence & taste. And of course there's still plenty of J's masterful & tasty guitar on this EP for those of us who can't get enough.
