lyrics
There’s something ‘bout you I can’t understand and I don’t want to
Just let me lean in ‘til we fly away
You can own your heart and I’ll just stow away
Our secret island’s not too far away if we want it
Looks like we’re landing straight to paradise
All we need to do is close our eyes
This funny feeling gets me higher than all my longing
Those days of dreaming seem so far away
Watch my heart collapse into a tidal wave
Our secret island’s not too far away if we want it
Looks like we’re landing straight to paradise
All we need to do is close our eyes
I'd never heard of these guys before I saw them open for The Decemberists in Atlanta this past weekend, but I was hooked from those first driving notes of "Making Noise..." and by the time they were three songs in, I weirdly had one foot in 1993 again with the other squarely here in 2024. This album is everything you want it to be, with some bonuses. Hard to pick an actual favorite track, but "The Window" does make me choke up a little bit, and "It's Alive!" is a consistent earworm. Gritty and poignant. I love the imagery and attention to detail in the lyrics that captures that singular experience of growing up in the 'burbs. Quite excellent for screaming along to in the car tabitha_yay_

Dirtbag Transformation: "What is this?" was my first reaction. But what an amazing song. It reminds me a bit of the Pixies in how it pulls together dissonance and then resolves. malfunction54
