Brooklyn upstarts PONS weave a psychedelic and harrowing web of decay, rebirth, and realization on rock opera THE LIQUID SELF—a golden spiral into insanity at sea surfacing on vinyl February 16th, 2024.
Telling the cryptic and nightmarish tale of a sailor’s descent into madness after being at lost at sea and subsequently rescued, PONS take cues from grandiose rock n’ roll classics like The Black Parade and Station to Station while creating something entirely their own and new to the genre of noise rock as a whole.
Songs ebb and flow as they lose all shape and meld into one another—creating a singular, theatrical, and disorienting experience
that subverts the idea of conventional song structure. The end result feels less like an album and more like a self contained world and creation myth that will take the listener as deep as they are willing to dive.
Besieged by pummeling, water-tight percussion and dynamic guitar playing that ranges from math-rock inspired grooves to all-out sonic assault and lush psychedelia, THE LIQUID SELF reaches cinematic heights that feel compelled by the tides of destiny themselves.
PONS’ debut studio album “THE LIQUID SELF” puts the “motion” in “ocean” on vinyl February 16th, 2024—only on Dedstrange. Remastered for vinyl back Zach Bloomstein.
