In the corner of my mind there's a little town
Like a ghost it follows me around
I go away, I lay awake
I go so far away
I see the face.
Stop thinkin' it was all so easy
Stop drinkin', well that's not so easy
Layin' in bed you talk about behavioural theory
I go to sleep underneath you janglin' jailer's keys
Pretender 10 - 1
Pretend to no one
Don't keep your light on
The cuffs are goin' on
The great pretender
The great pretender
How can you defend a
Great pretender?
Look in the mirror
Try to confess
Gonna have to be my best
If I'm gonna make amends
Look in your eye
Look in the fire
Look in your eye, but
What if I'm the liar?
You say you hear the sky
In all those old songs
You say you hear the sky
From our home town
Yeah it's big and wide
I could drown
I'm goin' home
Just to lay down
Where I'm safe in the sound
Where I'm safe in the sound

I only have the option of selecting In The Stone and Psychic as my favorite track. I would have selected Desire just ahead of both. First time I seen this was on KEXP at home and love it. Lots of strong tracks on this album, one of my faves from the past few years. Tony Brown

Heard this on a radio station out of a crappy old radio and I took a recording of it so I could find out what it was later. Turns out the radio station sometimes just doesn't list their play schedules, and so I was complacent in that this would be an incredible mystery song I lost grip of to the aether. Thank goodness for Shazam! Love Australian indie and a cute little album to boot : ) kimblery
