Just the kind of gentle soundtrack I need when I am doing simple repetitive manual tasks. Impossible to decide on a favourite track because they are all wonderful. Jeremy Cherfas
Blistering desert psych from Niger, this Taureg artist is just fantastic fun. However, he does have a serious message on this release, as the title would suggest. It’s a diatribe against the practice of uranium mining, colonialism, and slavery. In addition to his wildly psychedelicized electric guitar, he sings in his native tongue of Tamasheq, Berber dialect. This is raw, and powerfully political statement, and is just mesmerizing. Nickie Harte Kelly
Very happy a colleague recommended Mdou Moctar to me after I discovered & fell in love with Tinariwen and this new (to me) desert blues sound! Mdou Moctar inject more of a psychedelic sensibility into their music rather than Tinariwen's drone, making it flavorfully distinctive, while still carrying that shining, twanging, sun-drenched sound we all love about Saharan desert rock. Love the grooving rhythms and the alternately snappy clean or drowned-in-effects guitar melodies. Excellent work! pinkytheent

Marvelous, kaleidoscopic huayno music from Peruvian singer Esther Suarez, where sparkling keys provide the backdrop for aching melodies. Ba...ndcamp New & Notable Aug 26, 2017
