lyrics
In a nightmare I live, take me away, the fear, the pain, the endless guilt
Take me away, there is no end
Toxic wounds, draining my memories, toxic grip, forever bound in fear
This nightmare never ends, it was made for me, what do you see, these cracks in my mind, this hole in my soul, the endless pain, wish I could let it go, tell me, I will show you guilt, I will show you fear, let me disappear,
Show me the way, make me your prey, it never ends, meet what’s beyond us
Eternal thoughts, trapped in nothingness, begging on your knees, begone
Toxic wounds, toxic grip, bury the souls, feed them to the snakes
In a nightmare I live, take me away, the fear, the pain, the endless guilt
Take me away, there is no end
What I like the most about this album is that it seems to be more riff-oriented and memorable compared to their earlier albums which were chock-full of crazy dissonant riffage but their songs often meandered or lacked any distinct progression. That is not to say that this this album is any less dense, but is certainly a little catchier, here and there. As always with Ulcerate, their music rewards repeated listening while clearly retaining the tragic, emotional feeling the band is known for. Lefteris Kefalas
In its attempt to convey the diabolical horror of this album, my amplifier collapsed into a singularity and began accreting nearby buildings along with their screaming inhabitants. I cannot stop it. It will destroy us all. Anyway, please enjoy this album as you await your doom. (Sorry about that.) Iraviya
Everything comes together extremely well in this album. Probably my all time favorite black metal album now. The mix of atmospheric almost shoegaze playing leads extremely well into the intensity black metal normally has. The saxophone they use on almost all the songs really puts it above others in the genre for me. DevilsKnock

"Curse These Metal Hands" parlays the UK bands' chemistry into a record which—for all its tinnitus-inducing ferocity and elegiac arrangements—practically drips with transcendent joy. Bandcamp Album of the Day Aug 19, 2019
Seattle band Adzes craft sludgy dirges with elements of noise rock, post-metal and shoegaze, united by a staunch moral compass. Bandcamp... New & Notable Jun 3, 2020
Ulcerate has got to be one of the most consistent death metal bands out there. ‘Cutting the Throat of God’ is an excellent addition to an already stellar catalog. It undulates with densely atmospheric, dissonant, progressive, pummeling death metal and the occasional lighter passage to give some breathing room. As always with Ulcerate the drumming is what stands out the most to me, especially the use of cymbals. 8/10 RJ
