Afterimage was created using 2 reel-to-reel tape machines from the 1970's, with a 58 inch tape loop running between them. Fluctuations in machine speed created an asynchronous conversation which results in a meditative soundscape.
The music is inspired by an 8mm video taken in New York in 1971 which has been archived in a box for 50 years, and also serves as a music video for the track.

It recalls so many memories of the 70s passing into the 80s: being a kid on the vinyl back seat of my dad's car driving on motorways alongside towns that I had never heard of, watching episodes of Tomorrow's World and the hope technology promised - the relentless, destructive march of Thatcherism.
