"The reason why I had to have Progress right away is the great balance between all the elements. Gordon Beck refused to commit himself and rather thought that the broader he positioned himself, the more likely there would be something for every listener. And in fact, for me, it's basically the whole almost four hours. [...] a chapter of Anglo-Saxon jazz history that is certainly too obscure."

I am a big fan of Nucleus and Ian Carr, and nice to find it on the day I caught up with and interviewed Brian Smith, the saxophonist on this and other Nucleus albums. Some of the finest Jazz of this era. JazzLocal32.com John Fenton

The music on this album is brilliant! Great musicianship! Nice production and presentation on the CD issue.
To my ears two sides of Bobby are presented here. An all out improvisational approach, exposing some very raw emotions. On other pieces, this is contrasted by a more compositional approach, with a soulful almost Latin feel at times. Keith Gilbert
