Sonically and visually, I see this album as the aquatic spiritual successor to Oval's gorgeous 1994 album Systemisch. It is warm, inviting, and rhythmic like waves gently lapping against a ship, but has just enough harmonics, tone clusters, and general mystery to keep things interesting. The cover art perfectly captures this album's environment: aquatic and warm but angular (see the art for Hotel Pools' album Pacific). Thanks to Kankyo Records for highlighting this album for me! you are floating in a tank of salt water, when suddenly the tank dissolves and you are floating in the ocean. as the ocean evaporates, and you float into the white nothingness above you, this album plays. remy owen
