Many reviews have accurately described the masterful blend of sludge, doom, and progressive metal (with a dash of black) that defines Paradise Gallows, but another sub-genre, and perhaps the most important here, is often overlooked: stoner rock. This draws you into the zone right away and holds you there for the duration, and this zone is dark, crushing, and nearly hopeless. The guitar work is beautifully droning, but the cascading drumming deserves special praise. Inter Arma’s best! Ippocalyptica
