Product Description
This is the return of Wu-Tang! Their first studio release since the death of Dirty Ol Bastard; these superstars have returned...GZA, RZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killa, Raekwon, U-God, Inspecta Deck and Masta Killa, they're all here. "The Hear Gently Weeps" features Erykah Badu and is the first song to feature a Beatles sample! This is A MUST for true hip-hop fans. "The 8 Diagrams" comes with a bonus DVD!!

On Wu-Tang Clan's sixth album, 8 Diagrams, producer RZA still knows how to drop the bottom out of listeners' expectations. A minute and a half into opener "Campfire," for example, he abruptly switches keys just as the accompanying vocal downshifts from a melodic Curtis Mayfield sample ("Gypsy Woman") into Method Man's merciless first verse. From then on, despite the contentious instrumentals (Raekwon practically disowned the final product), RZA's never lets his fun get in the way of the MCs' speaking largely for themselves. Unsurprisingly, they still have a lot to say, though much of it treads firmly in the most stereotypical of hip-hop posturing: self-adulation, rough-edged with a syncopated litany of more or less violent, casually sexist bravado. Of course, those who tend toward hip-hop with a heart of gold would never be listening to the Wu anyway. Erykah Badu, John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and George Harrison's own son Dhani can't resuscitate "The Heart Gently Weeps," but then "Take It Back," "Wolves" (with George Clinton), and especially he timpani-pummeled "Weak Spot" show that even at loggerheads, the Wu still rocks an eccentric, charismatic funk. In the end, it seems, a gaggle of irreverent rappers this talented and volatile ages well almost in spite of itself. Keep 'em coming. --Jason Kirk

- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2012When I first heard this album, it was really apparent to me that Ol Dirty's passing had a big impact on the making of this album as the "Wu-Tang Clan". The whole tone of the album is one of sadness, mourning, and trying to find understanding (with the usual lyrics about the projects and life in the streets).
The production here sometimes goes back to the roots but for the most part, RZA is still pushing experimentation as far as he can and trying to keep the sound fresh. He succeeds for the most part.
There are a few tracks that are just mediocre but not bad but it's still a 5 star album to me (tracks like "Get Them Out Ya Way Pa" suffer because Masta Killa sounds a little bit lazy on it). It's too bad that "Wolves" with George Clinton crashed too, I love P-Funk.
As far as the members of the clan go, they had a 7 year gap in between "Iron Flag" and this album and it's really easy to hear how they've either grown or haven't changed at all over the years. Certain members sound like they don't like the direction of the album and don't give as much power to their rhymes on some tracks (in my opinion at least). They unite in ODB's memory though and create something that really is memorable though.
Even though this isn't the Wu's best album, it's definitely a good album that you should buy if you like them.
I think after this one though, they should stick to doing their solo albums and side things like "Chamber Music" and "Legendary Weapons" because Ol Dirty completed the Wu-Tang Clan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Minor-key type CD with mellow and eerie vibes. Very well produced and engineered.
This is the 5th official studio album by WTC, released on December 11th, 2007. It has 14 total songs, with a total play-length of 63:24 minutes. The album is dedicated to deceased past WTC member, Ol’ Dirty Bas****. The album is mainly about life, friends, family, and the 8 elements (diagrams) of life / nature / spirituality. The album is really cool because it’s overall pretty mellow...with raw and real old-school WTC vibes thrown-in. Overall though, it’s a minor-key type of album with mellow, dark, and eerie vibes. Like all other WTC albums, it never gets boring or old...that’s why it’s a 5-star CD. Also, there is a 24-minute DVD in the package...it’s about the album itself, the group itself, and ODB’s passing. It’s edited for language. There is live concert and live studio performances, as well as individual interviews. The DVD sound and picture quality is weak though, the DVD was cheaply made...it’s very obvious...no real engineering to it, just clips thrown-together and stuff like that...it’s cool to watch though, for sure. Anyways, the CD is 5-star, I definitely recommend listening to and buying it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2008Spellbinding beats with the lyrical skill you have come to love from The Clan. RZA's production reaches new heights on this album. If you are a RZA fan, you understand the complexity of his music. Some Wu fans want a throwback to 36 chambers and will complain that this album is not raw enough. If you want raw/uncut, look to Wu-fam or Wu-Syndicate. What you will get from RZA at this stage is head music that soars above any production in Rap today and the ocassional banger. RZA could easily make an album with all bangers, but he choses to show off his next level of production evolution on this one. The Heart Gently Weaps, Wolves, Get Them Out Ya Way Pa, Stick Me For My Riches, are the obvious standouts on the album. Overall 4.5/5 Hopefully we will get more product from the Clan. Ghost is droppin every 6 months, I wish RZA and the clan would follow his lead and feed the streets!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2008for the guys in Wu-Tang Clan. It might very well displease some fans and it took me by surprise at first. I was expecting some hard hitting, in your face rhymes and beats from the Wu camp. Those songs are there but 8 Diagrams is on a different tip this time with songs featuring George Clinton and Erykah Badu on "The Heart Gently Weeps" with a clever Beatles sample wrapped in this song amidst Badu kicking her vocals like she always does. It turns out to be a far different result but still very satisfying. "Wolves" is one of those hard hitting in your face songs i was talking about earlier. One of my favorites is the end song dedicated to ODB always and forever Wu affliated and will be missed. You can hear the sorrow and angst from Wu Tang throughout this song.
It's still Wu Tang Clan, but 8 Diagrams goes a different route and with a mostly satisfying conclusion.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2010I bought this album two months ago. I was highly disappointed. Then it happened. Like another reviewer said, its a thief in the night. I woke up in the morning singing the verses in the shower. Humming the beats while working. I hate to call it beats cause really, it's music. The production is SUPER deep. Ive listened to the album literally a hundred times through and i hear something new in the beats... everytime (gun will go). Rza is the Mozart of our times. Ghostface just kills everything. Ghostface is raps weapon of mass destruction (nukler as gwb would say) Even U-GOD was rippin. I mean really (no offense U-GOD), but when's the last time you spit a U-GOD verse? Buy it, hate it, and wait for the magik. New millenium classic...........

almost as good as iron flag, one or two songs that just sound like noise but taking risks with sounds is what makes for great art.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gran edición
Compra obligada.

Unfamiliar, but full of hits.
