Editorial Reviews
Glenn Mercer s first-ever solo album Wheels In Motion seems to come at a time when other influential artists are busy reuniting and reconnecting with past material. But former lead singer, guitarist & composer of the highly influential band The Feelies chooses another path by delivering a hypnotic, highly melodic and often reflective album. Glenn adds, The record is a very personal and intimate reflection on where I am, where I've been and where I'm going. The best part of the project was the opportunity to re-unite with a few old friends to play music. When I wrote and recorded the songs, I wanted the interplay between the guitar and vocal to be the main focus, building the track from that point. After a 5-year hiatus from his last recording project Wake Ooloo, Glenn seems re-energized, re-focused and not afraid to lead us through his personal journey while showing us his influence by artists he knows, respects and admires such as Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan & Luna. Performers on the record include ex-Feelies: Stan Demeski, Vinny DeNunzio, Dave Weckerman, Anton Fier (all played drums on various tracks) and Brenda Sauter (bass).

- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2007I consider the Feelies one of the best american band ever. It seems like it was much of Mr Mercer's doing, since this album is as good as , say "the good earth". The lyrics are still simple and down to the point, a style I love, I find it very authentic. Mainly though, they reveal a man who found the path to becoming " who we really are" and calls us to take it ASAP, since he's aware that not much time is left to choose the light, and find the courage to do the work of resolving the ego. Soon, those who chose to keep their ego-personality will be removed from the planet, leaving the Children of the ONE on a peaceful earth, finally. Thank you Glenn, your album will most likely be my favorite of 2007.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2008I picked this up the other day at the record store. I had not heard about it so it was a pleasant surprise to see a solo disc by Glenn Mercer. It is stronger than I expected, and I expected a lot. The Feelies albums are all 4 star affairs for me, not perfect but almost there. And this one is right there. The only track I don't like that much is the Beatles cover - it doesn't seem to fit with the rest. Also I seem to detect a high-pitched noise running through the recording which you might not notice at first but once you do it is nagging in some of the (few) quite passages.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2007This isn't one of those solo albums with one or two strong tracks embedded in filler. I wasn't sure upon first listen, but now I know they're all good. Oddly, the title track strikes me as the weakest, but it's still not weak.
Most of these songs generally fit the delicious Feelies pattern - acoustic guitar rhythm building up to an electric guitar solos. I never get tired of it. My personal favorites are Until It's Clear, In Real Time, Whatever Happened and Two Rights, which all sound similar to, and as good as, the best of the Feelies' Only Life album. I think at least 4 other tracks are almost as good.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2017I have loved the Feelies for more than 3 decades and I don't like this much.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2008A great meditative album that recalls the best work of Glenn Mercer's old band the Feelies. Richness of sound great guitars.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2008This record is as good as anything the Feelies have ever done but with warmer textures and a little more focus. Mercer's signature guitar sound is still the driving force behind these richly melodic, sometimes jangley songs. If you appreciate the work of the Feelies (or like the mellower moments of the V.U.), don't hesitate to pick this one up. I acquire several new records a month and this one always seems to make it back to the top of the heap.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2015Great album.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2009I haven't been mesmerized by anything in a while ~ until listened to this. I love this cd.
