Jahnah Camille - flesh

Posted by 1 site • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Birmingham, Alabama songwriter Jahnah Camille will release her debut EP next month via Winspear. Various Small Flames says this single channels "a '90s alt rock aesthetic to evoke a mood at once tender and simmering with bite."

trickpony - Pillow Talk

Roza Terenzi and Mike Midnight link up with Helsinki-based singer Maria Korkeila, aka emkay, for a new EP as trickpony on the label Step Ball Chain. Resident Advisor notes, "As more and more contemporary acts attempt to bring trip-hop back, trickpony's reimagination puts them among the most lovably campy—and capable—working to revitalize the genre."

Fat Dog - Running

Posted by 1 site • On SoundCloud • Also on: Spotify
South London post-punk band Fat Dog have signed to Domino Records for their debut LP, WOOF, out in September. The lead single has a primal intensity; keyboard player Chris Hughes says, "A lot of music at the moment is very cerebral and people won’t dance to it. Our music is the polar opposite of thinking music."

Hus "Wavo" Kingpin - SPIRIT (PROD. MACAPELLA)

"Finding a new way to spin a familiar song to genuinely ominous effect" (Bandcamp), New York rapper Hus Kingpin and producer Macapella connect for this highlight from a new project, IN A STATE OF NIRVANA.

Bullion - Affection

Posted by 1 site • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
London's Bullion (Stack №197) releases his new LP today on Ghostly International. The album sees him "embrace tenderness and the playful expanse of pop songwriting through his signature avant-garde approach," per Clash Magazine, and welcomes guests Carly Rae Jepsen, Charlotte Adigéry (Stack №346), and Panda Bear (Stack №254).
(Disclosure: Dave works with Ghostly)

Tara Jane O'Neil - Curling

Posted by 4 sites • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Out now on Orindal Records, the latest album from Tara Jane O'Neil finds the veteran experimental folk rock artist returning to song-forward structures with contributions from Sheridan Riley (Alvvays), Meg Duffy (Hand Habits), Marisa Anderson, and Walt McClements. "This is a record of mood but also one of a nearly jazz-like sense of playing or of how instruments interact in a mix," says A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed.
GOOD MIX
Crack Magazine presents a new mix from British producer Josiah Gladwell, aka K-LONE (Stack №289): "Drawing from his wider music taste as well as club-rooted sounds, K-LONE journeys freely through hazy R&B, tinkering electronic warmth and ambient house."
GOOD READ

For Pitchfork in 2019, Noah Yoo traces how EDM conquered America in the 2010s:

"Where Nirvana nicked the quiet-loud-quiet dynamic of the Pixies, the late Avicii took after progressive house forerunners like Eric Prydz, perfecting the build-up and drop. Tastes change, but teenage rage is forever."

Thanks for listening!
