There's a quirky recording studio in Vancouver called Tugboat Place. Inside, you'll find vintage recording gear, rare guitar pedals and the odd Al Jarreau record scattered about. Its owner, Steve Bays (also of Hot Hot Heat), makes up one-half of Fur Trade alongside Parker Bossley (also of The Gay Nineties). The duo's debut album—rom the same label that brought you Chromeo and Death From Above 1979—introduces a sound created inside Tugboat Place and lovingly described by the pair as "hard yacht rock."
